Life by You Cancelled

Image
I am disappointed and saddened by the decision Paradox Interactive made to cancel the new life simulation game that was to rival the Sims, Life by You . However, I am not surprised. The characters just looked wrong, they hired the wrong person to do the art. The look and feel of the game was dated, it just felt like the Sims 3 on steroids. However, with those two issues, which to me are cosmetic (says the woman who isn't programming a game), the game had lots of potential and I liked the direction it was going in. I think that going up against the Sims 4 and the new direction the Sims 5 is going and Indie game Paralives that Life by You had a chance to be very successful and profitable. Even games like FarmFolks , which had to go back to the beginning and build a game design book, weren't real competition. However, no one saw inZoi on the horizon. And when it dropped, built on Unreal Engine and not Unity, with its life like features and homage to Sim City, Life by You didn&

inZOI vs Life by You vs The Sims 4 - Who Wins?

Image
I was very excited about the new life simulation game Life by You by Paradox, with its whole open world and great building tools. But I became reticent after seeing the lack of progression with the characters. They just felt like a mix between Second Life and The Sims 2 - just stuck in the past. All of the characters sort of looked the same. The women look very masculine, something is wrong with the arms (although, the arm sliders means that you can make them as long or short as you want to), but something just seems out of place. Life by You Character And with someone who has as much experience as the Rod Humble developing the game, they felt too crude. It is 2024, the characters shouldn't look like that. But all we have is The Sims and the Indie game underdevelopment Paralives along with the farming sim:  Farm Folks yet to hit the market, whose characters look great I might say. Farm Folks is a multi-player farm simulation game with some life sim character

New Life Simulation Games on the Horizon and I'm Here for It

Image
I am pretty stoked about the life simulation genre. It is a game genre I enjoy playing but it has been dominated by one developer, EA, for a long time. It seriously lacks diversity and is heavily skewed toward the queer community. Lastly, the Sims 4 is riddled with bugs and the developers ignore them and just churn out more packs because people are willing to pay more money hoping the game will be fixed and work as they envision. It won't, but they continue to live in their delusion. Wanting to get away from the toxicity of the Sims community and play a life sim game that actually works I was very excited when Life by You was announced earlier this year.  However, following the development of the game over the last few months and the promises by Rod Humble, I don't know if Paradox has given the game developer, General Manager Rod Humble , an ex Sims EVP and ex CEO of Second Life , the budget to hire people to really build a high-end life sim game. Life by You (LbY) is b

Ab Roller - Dual Handles for Beginners & Advanced Core Strength

Image
Hi everyone, I'm on this #FitLife movement and decided to share a new piece of exercise equipment I am using. This Ab Roller is from Asia. What I like about it is that it is lower to the ground like a traditional plank. It has four wheels instead of the one wheel an ab roller typically has, so I don't have to focus on balancing the wheel, I can focus on strengthening my core.  I'm not a fan of traditional crunches. And since the COVID pandemic, I've preferred to exercise at home or outside and spend less time indoors in crowded spaces. So, that leaves me with finding a solution to exercise my abs, lower back and obliques along with doing Pilates. I like variety, it keeps me engaged and enjoying my fitness routines. After all it is a lifestyle! I'll share more about my #FitLife journey on my Tanya Talks blog and channel. But I wanted to share this piece of equipment since I haven't seen any reviews or videos in the U.S. Most of the Ab Rollers I have seen ha

Sims 4 Infants - Good Idea, Horrible Implementation

Image
The addition of infants in the Sims 4 is a great idea. You can tell tons of planning went into the infants mannerisms, interactions, and level of awareness. Unfortunately, just like the recent implementations of packs in the past three years, the addition of infants in the base game is riddled with bugs. The most annoying is that when you go to manage world and return the game places the infant out in the world far away from the home. Every SINGLE time. And secondly, if you leave the infant on the home lot with another parent the infants needs aren't met. So, clearly two very basic things the Sims team did not ensure was done wasn't. They did not include staging for the infant, so the infant loops the world when you are not actively controlling her/him. And when you leave the infant home the sims team did not ensure the infant's needs were met. I would give the sims team grace if this was the first time they implemented a little life state, but they did the SAME EXACT thi

Building Tiny Homes in the Sims 4 from Actual Architectural Plans

Image
Hi Everybody. Welcome to a new feature on my blog. I am jumping into tiny house building in the Sims 4.  I'll be using actual architectural plans to create my builds , that you can download from the Sims 4 Gallery, user id troshalom . Tiny Living Pack I just purchased the Tiny Living stuff pack . I initially didn't plan to purchase the pack as I wasn't into the whole "Tiny House" builds thing, although I enjoy watching on television Tiny House builds. But, I wanted some of the items in the pack & decided to purchase it.  The first thing I did was plop down a lot from the pack, it is a Tier 1 Micro Home, which is a max of 32 tiles, and I was mortified.  Why didn't they use a 20x15 lot for the Tiny house? They put a microhouse on a 30x20 lot. It looks ridiculous. I plopped the house down in Newcrest, which is one of my favorite worlds, leveled the terrain and made some adjustments. The next thing I did was build a large tiny house, that is a Tier 3 Sma

Life By You - New Simulation Game

Image
I am really excited about this game. It is open world and fully customizable. With customizable conversations! That will make creating stories for YouTube a blast! Life by You Announcement Event The announcement event just gave us a bit of a taste. Not too long. Right now the humans look rather crude and their movements are stilted, so I am hoping they will get more polish before the game is fully released, but I am gang ho to do some early testing as I am ready for a new life simulation game and am bored with The Sims 4. Right now the look and feel of the game is giving me Sims 3 vibe and that is not a good thing. I really do like the look and feel of the Sims 4 and am expecting a new life simulation game to wow us with the graphics and look really slick and smooth. Not a throwback to graphics from 2009, when it is 2023. So I am hoping that those graphics are just for playtesting, and that the real great looking graphics will be in the pack release.  I just prefer vibrant lush looki
